NYC - With Camera, While Walking Leon

The other day, when I arrived in NY to be with my family it was chilly and misty, and the dog needed to be walked.
We headed from the apartment in Tribeca toward Chinatown, Little Italy and the City Hall area.  Leon spent his time excitingly sniffing out walls and what-not to pee on, while I metaphorically followed the same sort of involvement with the environment, but with my camera.
I loved how much of the neigborhood architecture (and the fish market) was classic. I felt transported into a different era.

These pictures, I hope, carry the spirit of Old /New York as I experienced it that lovely, misty afternoon.

There is really nothing connecting these two photographs.
There is no logical reason for posting them together.

The green image came to my attention before it was green.  A few days ago I came across it in a folder while looking for something else. Immediately becoming distracted from my quest,  I put it into software to heighten some color area,  only to accidentally turn it green. I liked what it did to the original image, which I was drawn to basically for it's composition.

I found the second image tonight, shot last year in NYC, while looking for something to pair with a poem. This one didn't work out for that, but it held my attention, wondering what is the story it seems to be implying?

Perhaps tomorrow I'll find the perfect photographic companion for my poem, or maybe write a poem to go with this photo, instead.

Overall, I think the 2 photos probably do connect, if only in context of the disjointed drifting my consciousness awareness is experiencing lately.  Days are not externally structured very much, which being currently unemployed largely creates.....my mind wanders down side streets and dashes off-road when let off leash for periods of time, before being reeled by mantras back into the inner silence.

Street Shooting in NYC

These photos were all shot in NYCa few days ago on 5th Ave, Lexington and Madison from about 54th street up to 77th. It was really hot here, so keeping myself absorbed in the visuals of the streets while walking around buying last minute items and getting money changed to rupees for my upcoming trip to India, was essential to not giving up and sitting it out in some air conditioned cafe. These images have not been "worked on" since I'm at my daughter's home here and they don't have photoshop or even cropping tool programs. Most of them are close to what I would say are finished, since I shoot with full frame in mind when I look in the viewfinder, though a little tweaking will happen down the road when I return from my adventures.

A Little Movie

Since college years studying painting and design I've thought that one of the most wonderful careers would be an editor of movie trailers. I can sit through all those "coming attractions" just mesmerized by the editing....good commercials work for me too. My own work has been single images, often series of images creating a story or composite of sorts, but I'm getting more interested in multimedia....duh, me and a billion people....but whatever.

This is the first attempt, excluding the 7 minute documentary I did with a partner as part of a video production class, at what I hope is a new found source of expression both visually, audibly, and who knows yet, what else as it unfolds.

While roaming around NY over Thanksgiving I meandered into the Apple Store on Fifth Ave. The footage is one take, with no edits, shot under the transluscent stairs.
