Back to Los Angeles: #2 - Seeing In Color

Although I'm concentrating on black and white these days, occasionally color jumps out, being the attraction to make a picture. Here are a few.

The mermaid photo also holds up in black and white, but I couldn't resist the green and red... that's what grabbed my attention while walking down Abbot Kinney Blvd, in Venice one late afternoon.

The night shot, on La Cienega Blvd. also works converted, but I prefer the soft color hues of the environment.

Walking down Melrose Ave, seeing a scene unfolding framed in bright orange bricks and people gleaming in the sunlight, there was no question. Pure color bliss!

Back to Los Angeles: #1 - Palm Trees

A long time past, and many images since, that I've posted. (go figure that sentence out!) A few weeks ago, I returned to live in LA again, after being in Chapel Hill for the last 13 years. For all the trees out there in NC, I found I, myself, perhaps not being a tree, didn't really root very deeply.

So, here I am again, this time armed with my iPhone instead of the usual assortment of cameras I toted in the past, until a few months ago, when I fell hard for this way of shooting. It started in NY, and I haven't looked back. In fact, I haven't posted anything from the first series of iPhone based images from then, because all of a sudden it's now, and these are the new photos I'd rather share.

I'm finding much inspiration and shooting most everyday, ranging from people in my daily life, the nature and architecture in my surroundings, and the usual cornucopia of what is Los Angeles.

This group will involve palm trees. It's a place to start.
